Pieter van Heerden was born and raised in Gauteng, South Africa. Since childhood the beauty of nature has made a deep impression on him. After military service and further studies in theology, the longing to become an artist was so strong that he decided to attend private art classes. Since 1996 art has become his passion and he enjoy doing art in different themes. Success has not come easy to Pieter but he now has paintings in private collections in Europe, America and Australia, as well as South Africa. His clear, direct approach, with an element of the surreal, has a modern and uncomplicated appeal.
